According to Google, 86% of 50 cloud accounts were used to perform cryptocurrency mining with software downloaded within 22 seconds in most cases.
Google's report revealed that 10% of compromised Cloud instances were used to conduct scans of other publicly available resources on the Internet, including vulnerable systems. When Google compared the IP addresses associated with those attacks, it found that 8% of them were used to launch attacks against other targets.
